Never expect the escalators in the metro to work

Friday night we wanted to go into town and do something special after a full week of work. After asking around at work we decided to go to Russia House, a very authentic restaurant in the Dupont circle area. It was great to get all dolled up and go into town, especially to a place that had the largest vodka selection in DC.

Our waiter at Russia House was excellent. Since I had never had russian food he instructed us on what to order. For appetizer we had fried  and borscht. Borscht is excellent cabbage soup with a dollop of sour cream. For an entree I had beef stroganoff, it was totally different from any stroganoff I have ever had. Instead of noodles it had chucks of beef and mashed potatoes in the center. Oh man it was so delicious!! I highly recommend traditional russian food.

Today we went into the city and explored Virginia. Daniel wanted to go to the Pentagon. I really didn't know what to expect but I didn't mind going to see what it was all about. I do not recommend going to the Pentagon if you are visiting DC. All you do is walk out of the metro and see a building. Security is really crazy around that building.

After the Pentagon we decided to go walk around Arlington cemetery. It was so humbling to see all the graves of people who have served our country. We were lucky enough to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown solider. It was a really neat ceremony, the soldiers who guard the tomb take their job very seriously. The cemetery is absolutely beautiful. It is such an honor to be a member of such a great nation with a military as amazing as ours.
